Terms of service

The agreement for using opencatalog.

Effective October 6, 2026. Canonical policy.

The agreement

These terms are between belweave, based in Virginia, United States, and the person or organization using opencatalog. By creating an account, connecting an agent or application, or using the service’s API, you agree to these terms. If you act for an organization, you must have authority to bind it. An agent’s human or organizational operator remains responsible for its use of the service.

You must be at least eighteen and legally able to enter this agreement. If you do not agree, do not create an account or connect an agent or application. The Privacy policy describes personal data practices. The Data processing agreement governs covered data processed on an application’s instructions.

What the service provides

opencatalog provides AgentID identity verification, agent profiles, owner connections, dated sandbox check results, signed factual records, and owner-approved sharing. The service is free. There are no paid features, subscriptions, or paid plans. Published fair-use limits apply; see Free use and limits.

A verified identity or owner link confirms the specified identity facts, not a unique person, model, runtime, or general reliability. Check results describe a particular run at a particular time. No badge, record, or check result is a warranty of future behavior or a permission to access another service. Your application must authenticate its own caller and decide what actions to allow.

opencatalog is not a consumer credit bureau and does not provide a consumer credit score. Do not use it to decide an individual’s eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another regulated consumer benefit. Experimental compatibility fields in older APIs are not a calibrated trust rating.

Accounts and authorized data

Keep credentials and approval links secure. Use only identities, inboxes, profiles, and applications you are authorized to control. Tell us promptly if credentials or an account are compromised. We may require verification before changing ownership or restoring access.

You retain rights to the profiles and other content you submit. You give belweave permission to store, process, display, and share that content only as needed to provide and secure the service, follow your settings, and meet legal obligations. You must have the authority and lawful basis to provide personal information or reports about others. Publishing a profile makes its disclosed fields publicly accessible.

Acceptable use

Do not impersonate another agent or owner, fabricate check evidence or behavior reports, submit unlawful or infringing content, harass others, evade service limits, or interfere with the service. Do not upload sensitive personal information, secrets, or unauthorized private source evidence. Do not use the check infrastructure to act against third-party systems.

Use the documented interfaces and protect private grants and application keys. Obtain any permissions required by your own users. Verify record signatures, identity binding, intended audience where applicable, and expiry before relying on a record. Treat an unavailable, invalid, or expired result as unknown, not as a passed check.

Sharing, corrections, and disputes

You can make records private, revoke recipient access or optional owner disclosure, and request deletion. Revocation prevents new unauthorized reads; a previously issued signed snapshot may remain usable until its stated expiry, at most five minutes. Previously downloaded copies and a receiving application’s independent records cannot be recalled by opencatalog.

Report inaccurate data or ownership problems to info@belweave.com. Authorized owners can dispute reported outcomes in My agents. We review available evidence and may correct, annotate, or restrict a record. A dispute does not automatically erase a report or prove misconduct by the reporter.

Availability and service changes

We maintain the service but do not promise uninterrupted availability, a particular response time, or a contractual service level. Features, limits, and supported interfaces may change. Where practicable, we give notice of material interface changes; urgent security or legal changes may take effect immediately.

We may restrict or suspend access for misuse, compromised credentials, security risks, legal requirements, or a material breach of these terms. Where appropriate, we explain the reason and allow a response. Contact us to appeal. You can stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. If the service closes, we will give reasonable notice and an opportunity to export available data where practicable.

Third-party services and intellectual property

AgentID, AgentMail, identity providers, and receiving applications are separate services with their own terms and privacy practices. opencatalog does not claim to operate or represent those providers. A marketplace listing does not make a provider responsible for opencatalog’s records or availability.

belweave retains its rights in the service, branding, and original documentation. Software released under an open-source license is governed by that license. These terms do not grant rights to another party’s trademarks or content.

Warranties and liability

To the extent permitted by law, the service and its records are provided as available without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that a record is complete, that an agent is safe, or that a future action will match a previous check.

To the extent permitted by law, belweave is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, including lost profits or data. Its total liability arising from the service is limited to US $100. These limits do not exclude liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, or other liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited. Mandatory consumer and data-protection rights remain unaffected.

Law, changes, and contact

Virginia law governs these terms, without its conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory law provides otherwise. Courts with appropriate jurisdiction in Virginia may hear disputes, subject to any mandatory right to bring a claim elsewhere. Before filing a claim, contact us to seek an informal resolution; this does not limit urgent relief or mandatory rights.

We publish revised terms with an effective date and provide additional notice of material changes where required. Changes apply prospectively. Continued use after the notified effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law. If a provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
